Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

“You can't stop the waves but you can learn how to surf” – Jon Kabat-Zinn

Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) is an eight-week evidence-based program that offers secular, mindfulness training to assist with a variety of physical and psychological difficulties including stress, anxiety, depression and pain.

It was first developed in the 1970's by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn, and it can be understood as the non-judgmental acceptance and investigation of present moment experience, including body sensations, thoughts and feelings so that attention skills are cultivated, emotional regulation is developed, and rumination and worry are significantly reduced.

The program is suitable for beginners alongside those who are more experienced and may wish to deepen their practise.

*No prior meditation skills are required, though an interest to learn is.

The Program

The program consists of 8 x 2 hour weekly group sessions along with an optional half day/3 hour retreat.

(Group sizes range from 4 people +)

Each session is experiential in nature and incorporates a range of simple meditation practises along with exploration of the theory which underpins each practise. There is also a process of supported self-inquiry in sessions along with home practise (about 45 mins to 1 hour a day) which is important.

The Investment

£195 online (by zoom)
